Khalid Husain, DPM
Khalid Husain, DPMAs the founder of Midwest Foot & Ankle Clinics, Dr. Khalid Husain has always subscribed to the philosophy of providing the best possible care for his patients. He utilizes the latest techniques in treating foot & ankle problems with a gentle and caring approach. The robust growth of the practice as well as the loyalty of his patients, are a testimonial to Dr. Husain’s values and beliefs towards the practice of his field.
Dr. Husain’s education and eleven years of practice experience, have laid the groundwork for his success. He has specialized in the area of diabetic foot management and limb salvage, with fellowship training from the University of Texas-San Antonio Health Sciences Center - considered the leading program in the country in the field of diabetic foot medicine. He completed his surgical residency from the St. Joseph Hospital/ N. Chicago VA Medical Center. He received his doctoral degree, D.P.M., from the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago. To further his educational enhancement, he routinely attends the finest medical education courses/workshops around the country. His B.S., in Biochemistry, was earned at the University of Illinois-Urbana/Champaign.
Dr. Husain continues to serve the profession in many leadership roles. Currently, he is a member of the Education Committee of the Illinois Podiatric Medical Association (IPMA) and recently was Co-chairman of the 2008 Scientific Seminar for the IPMA. He is a teaching faculty member of the St. Joseph Hospital/ N. Chicago VAMC residency program. Previously, he was a faculty member of the podiatric residency program at the University of Texas-San Antonio Health Sciences Center.
With the culmination of education and experience, Dr. Husain is able to deliver the highest caliber of care to his patients. He has been appointed to the panel of wound care physicians at Alexian Brothers Medical Center, Elk Grove, and St. Francis Hospital, Evanston, to provide limb salvage services. For the last ten years, Dr. Husain was the director of the Diabetic Foot Clinic and Trauma/Reconstructive surgery at N. Chicago VAMC, providing care to the heroes/veterans that served our country.
With all this, Dr. Husain still makes his family life top priority. He is married to his wife, Yasmeen, and their son, Majid (16 months). Dr. Husain was born and raised in the Chicago area and loves the beautiful, diverse and enriching atmosphere that living here provides
Jennifer Kirchens, DPM
Jennifer Kirchens, DPMDr. Jennifer Kirchens is a Chicago native who has been with Midwest Foot and Ankle Clinics, since 2002. Dr. Kirchens was born and raised on the Southwest side of the city. She attended Northern Illinois University, earning a B.S. in Biology, graduating Cum Laude in 1997. She attended Dr. William Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine, graduating Cum Laude in May 2001.
Jennifer completed a two-year surgical residency at St. Joseph Hospital in Chicago. Her third year of surgical training focused on limb salvage and reconstruction with extensive use of external fixation. She also completed a one-year clinical residency at the North Chicago V.A.M.C. Dr. Kirchens is regarded by her patients as a gentle, personable and attentive physician. Her interests are Diabetic foot care/limb salvage, wound care, sports related injuries and general podiatric care. Dr. Kirchens is affiliated with Northwest Community Hosiptal, Resurrection Medical Center, and St. Joseph Hospital. Jennifer is an avid animal lover, who volunteers at various animal shelters throughout the Chicago land area. She enjoys biking and has participated in several charity bike rides for the Illinois Multiple Sclerosis Society
She is married to her college "sweetheart" and they have one crazy pooch named, "Franklin." Jen's feet are happiest when relaxing with family and friends.
