As the founder of Midwest Foot & Ankle Clinics, Dr. Khalid Husain has always subscribed to the philosophy of providing the best possible care for his patients. He utilizes the latest techniques in treating foot & ankle problems with a gentle and caring approach. The robust growth of the practice, as well as the loyalty of his patients, are a testimonial to Dr. Husain's values and beliefs towards the practice of his field.

Dr. Husain's education and nineteen years of practice experience, have laid the groundwork for his success. He specializes in the area of diabetic foot management and limb salvage, with fellowship training from the University of Texas-San Antonio Health Sciences Center - considered the leading program in the country for diabetic foot medicine. He completed his surgical residency from the St. Joseph Hospital/ N. Chicago VA Medical Center. He received his doctoral degree, D.P.M., from the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago. To further his educational enhancement, he routinely attends the finest medical education courses/workshops around the country. His B.S., in Biochemistry, was earned at the University of Illinois-Urbana/Champaign.

With all this, Dr. Husain still makes his family life top priority. He is married to his wife, Yasmeen, and their three children. Dr. Husain was born and raised, in the Chicago area, and loves the beautiful, diverse and enriching atmosphere that living here provides.

 

Jennifer Kirchens, DPM

Dr. Jennifer Kirchens is a Chicago native who has been with Midwest Foot and Ankle Clinics, since 2002. Dr. Kirchens was born and raised on the Southwest side of the city. She attended Northern Illinois University, earning a B.S. in Biology, graduating Cum Laude in 1997. She attended Dr. William Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine, graduating Cum Laude in May 2001.

Jennifer completed a two-year surgical residency at St. Joseph Hospital in Chicago. Her third year of surgical training focused on limb salvage and reconstruction with extensive use of external fixation. She also completed a one-year clinical residency at the North Chicago V.A.M.C. Dr. Kirchens is regarded by her patients as a gentle, personable and attentive physician. Her interests are Diabetic foot care/limb salvage, wound care, sports related injuries and general podiatric care. Dr. Kirchens is affiliated with Northwest Community Hosiptal, Resurrection Medical Center, and St. Joseph Hospital. Jennifer is an avid animal lover, who volunteers at various animal shelters throughout the Chicago land area. She enjoys biking and has participated in several charity bike rides for the Illinois Multiple Sclerosis Society

She is married to her college "sweetheart" and they have one crazy pooch named, "Franklin." Jen's feet are happiest when relaxing with family and friends.

Gene Choi, DPM

Dr. Gene Choi is a born and raised Chicago native. His love for medicine began back in high school when he started working as a patient care technician in the emergency department at Rush North Shore Medical Center, where he worked for the next 10 years while completing his education. Throughout his years working in the emergency department, he was able to obtain an invaluable wealth of knowledge and experience that has helped him to treat his patients as a whole person. He prides himself on practicing evidence based medicine and compassionate care for his patients.

Dr. Choi completed his undergraduate education at University of Illinois - Chicago, earning a B.S. in Biological Sciences and completed his medical education at Dr. William Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University, earning his D.P.M. He then went on to complete a 3 year surgical residency with added credentials in reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery at Rush University Medical Center where he trained under faculty not only from Rush University but also from Northwestern University and University of Chicago. During his 3rd year of training, he served as chief resident, chosen by his peers and faculty. Dr. Choi continues to be part of the teaching faculty for the Rush residents at the NorthShore University hospitals. His interests lie in treating all conditions related to the foot and ankle, from the common bunions and hammertoes to complex reconstructive surgery, along with sports medicine, trauma and wound care/limb salvage. Throughout the years, he has enjoyed being actively involved in the community by helping with foot screenings and volunteering in the medical tent at the Chicago marathon. Outside of work, Dr. Choi loves to watch movies, read, play sports, travel and is also an avid motorsports fan.

Farheen Wahid, DPM

Dr. Farheen Wahid  was raised in the suburbs of Chicago. Dr. Wahid completed her undergraduate education at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign earning a B.A. in Economics. She completed her medical education at Dr. William Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University. She then went on to complete a three year surgical residency at Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago. During her third year of training she served as Chief Resident. Her interests lie in treating all conditions related to the foot and ankle, from common bunions and hammertoes to wound care and limb salvage. Outside of work, Farheen enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter and maintaining an active lifestyle.

Dr. Wahid is accepting new patients at our new location in Hoffman Estates and Arlington Heights. She has convenient office hours. She has advanced training in the latest foot & ankle surgical and non-surgical treatment options.
